Overall, a Bloodhound requires a higher
amount of maintenance than a small lap dog and could
be costly to purchase and maintain. Bloodhounds may not be the ideal pet for an
average family. Our size requires lots of room and a small apartment just
won't do. Neither owner nor Bloodhound will be happy. Take each and
every word I've written seriously. Some people purchase Bloodhound just
for the sake of saying they own one and lives are miserable. Too many
times, Bloodhounds get turned out, put into the streets to fend for themselves,
others are put into animal shelters, and I shutter to think of how many are
abused and neglected. Bloodhounds are such a loving animal and do not deserve
harsh treatment for those who are not patient with the breed. Truly, it
takes a genuine dog lover to over come some of our characteristics. Only
when you can overlook
our size, drool and other things, can you love a Bloodhound. But, too
often, many humans treasure the shoes we MAY tear up or the curtains we MAY rip
down, or the doors we'll MIGHT scratch a hole in...and they can not ever learn to love
us. So, if you are thinking of purchasing a Bloodhound, think about it
again. Perhaps, we are just what you are looking for, but then again,
maybe we are your worst nightmare.
I am blessed
because I have a wonderful family that sees my good beyond my not so good
attributes. Slime dripping out of my mouth or no slime, they hug me and play
with me and love me. I love my family with all my heart...I am forever theirs,
faithfully!
