Our hair is short and silky (when I'm clean, but I prefer to get as messy as I can). I have lots of extra skin, which gives me lots of wrinkles. It is probable that another 100 pound dog could fit into my skin. (Just more of me to cuddle with.) Our skin is sensitive. It is important to wipe me down once a week with a damp cloth. I should be brushed daily. See, with all the extra skin I have, I can really hold in all sort of dirt, which may cause odors. Not only can dirt can get trapped in lots of areas on my skin, sometimes parasites can, too. These are the things I hate, because it causes me to itch, then scratch, then get infected. So keeping me brushed and wiped down is very important to me. Also, if I am left outdoors, remember that some Bloodhounds may be sensitive to bug bites. One time, I was put out for about two hours, unattended and some gnats got hold of me, well by the time my mom came out to rescue me, it looked like I went a few rounds with Lennox Lewis! My eyes were swollen something terrible! But, it's okay, because I got some extra lovin'! And it taught my family a valuable lesson. DON'T LEAVE ME! * Oh, and here's a tip, the more frequent the brushing, the shinier our coat. |
