History

I was born in North Carolina on December 22, 1999.  My Bloodhound parents are Argus and Dixie of the Boxford Kennels.

But...us hounds dates way back...

It is believed that Hound dogs date back to pre-Christian times.  Called the Ancient Hounds, and belonging to kings, (mostly in the Mediterranean area) this era has said to use hounds for hunting and combat.  Our unmatched scenting abilities, even way back when, made us vital to man in the regards that we obtained their food and secured their palaces from any predators.  (Being a Bloodhound, I find it hard to believe, because we don't hunt game and we don't fight nowadays).

The Romans claim to have found hounds in Britain in 55 B.C.  The Romans describe the hounds as having a scenting ability that was unmatchable as well as the having the perseverance to finding their quarry.

The hound dog has been split up into different "categories".  There are the Greyhounds, Basset hounds, etc.  Each are distinguished as a hunter, some by sight, some by scent.

Bloodhounds are in the scent-hound category. Bloodhound is derived from the words "blooded hound", which translates to a hound of pure breeding.  A monk named Francois Hubert was born to nobility and was an avid hunter.  It was him that followed strict and selective breeding practices early in my Bloodhound ancestry.  It was his strains of breeding that made the Bloodhounds what we are today...Beautiful, intriguing, stout, hard working, independent, non-aggressive, affectionate, faithful, and, much, much more as you will learn.  Ok, ok, so Francois left out a few things like gracefulness, good manners, and listening abilities...but, just to let you know, we do hear you.
